Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks, across over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries.
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure efficient and timely delivery schedules.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques or forklift equipment, adhering to safety protocols.
- Transport hazardous materials (Hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure truck safety and compliance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route adjustments, delivery statuses, or safety concerns.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for Hazmat, tanker, or other specialized loads preferred.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, dump trucks, forklift operation, and freight handling equipment.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck loading/unloading.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and handle manual handling tasks efficiently.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling processes and truck loading/unloading procedures.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance on over-the-road routes.
