Demo Captain / Sales Consultant
The Demo Captain / Sales Consultant plays a dual role within our dealership. On the water, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by teaching new boat owners how to safely and confidently operate their boats. When not conducting deliveries and demonstrations, you will work in sales by assisting customers throughout the boat-buying process, answering product questions, and helping match customers with the right boating solutions for their needs.
This position is critical to our sales team, and we are looking for the following skills:
- Must be comfortable and well-experienced in trailering boats behind large trucks. Much of your time will be spent driving a large company truck while trailering a loaded boat trailer safely and efficiently throughout the surrounding areas to and from demo locations.
- Must know how to back up trailers of all sizes and have the ability to maneuver trailers in tight conditions.
- Must be knowledgeable and experienced in safely operating a wide range of boats on the water, unloading/loading from a trailer, and maneuvering around docks.
- Must be able to handle a variety of situations that could arise, from a flat tire to a boat having technical issues during a demo.
- Must have excellent people skills, excellent manners, and communication skills, with the ability to actively engage with customers and help identify solutions that meet their specific watersports and boating needs.
- Ensure and promote safety through required gear on the boat and customers (life vests, emergency kits, etc.).
- Ensure new boat owners understand all manufacturer guidelines required to operate their boats safely.
- Assist customers with boat selection, product education, and dealership offerings as part of the sales process.
- Support dealership sales initiatives and customer relationship-building efforts when not conducting on-water demonstrations and deliveries.
