Human Resources Generalist / Office Manager
Part-Time | Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking an organized, proactive, and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our growing manufacturing company. This position begins as a part-time role (approximately 20–30 hours per week) with the opportunity to transition into a full-time position as our organization continues to expand.
The ideal candidate enjoys wearing multiple hats and is comfortable supporting Human Resources while also assisting with office administration and light accounting functions. Primary Responsibilities
Human Resources
· Manage recruiting activities including posting positions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating hiring.
· Develop recruiting strategies to attract skilled manufacturing, engineering, and administrative talent.
· Conduct new employee onboarding and orientation.
· Maintain employee personnel files and HR records.
· Coordinate benefits enrollment and communicate benefit programs.
· Administer payroll preparation, employee timekeeping, PTO, attendance, leave administration (FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation), and personnel documentation.
· Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
· Assist managers with employee relations, coaching, disciplinary documentation, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
· Develop and maintain employee handbooks, HR policies, procedures, and company communications.
· Coordinate employee training, professional development, and performance management programs.
· Support employee engagement initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture and improve retention.
· Assist leadership with organizational planning, succession planning, and workforce development.
· Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information.
Safety & Compliance
· Support OSHA compliance initiatives and maintain required employee safety documentation.
· Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
· Assist with safety training records and compliance reporting.
· Support company Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001, AS9100, or other applicable standards.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance HR, administrative, and operational processes.
Office Management
· Manage daily office operations and administrative activities.
· Order and maintain office supplies, equipment, and facility needs.
· Coordinate office vendors, maintenance providers, and service contracts.
· Organize company meetings, employee events, and internal communications.
· Maintain company records and confidential documentation.
· Support executive leadership with administrative projects and strategic initiatives.
QualificationsRequired
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
· Minimum 2 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
· Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
· Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal supervision.
· High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred
· Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
· HR Certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
· Experience administering payroll through ADP, Paychex, UKG, or similar HRIS/payroll systems.
· Experience with HRIS implementation or administration.
· Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation, ADA, FMLA, COBRA, and EEO compliance.
· Experience supporting ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
· Experience recruiting skilled manufacturing, engineering, technical, and production personnel.
· Basic accounting or bookkeeping experience, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll support, and budgeting.
· Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, formulas, reporting, and data analysis.
· Experience supporting executive leadership and participating in strategic planning initiatives.
· Experience leading employee engagement, retention, recognition, and continuous improvement programs.
