The Position
This position is responsible for planning and organizing production activities in order to meet on-time delivery and productivity targets. The Coordinator ensures optimal use of resources (people and equipment) in order to meet customer ship dates, without sacrificing safety or quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitors the operation to ensure that employees adhere to safe work practices and to ensure that there are no hazards in the workplace.
- Ensures proper PPE and compliance with safety policies (i.e. cell phones, ear buds, etc.)
- Monitors 5S at work stations (recycling pallets, removing clutter, general housekeeping)
- Maintains authority to stop and report to a supervisor any activity that is deemed unsafe or that may pose risk of injury to any employee
- Reports equipment and facility maintenance needs to a supervisor
- Directs the hourly workforce to ensure that targets are met for safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, and throughput and manages shift hand off.
- Work 30 minutes prior to assigned shift
- Takes daily attendance
- Audit machines and set up carts for complete tooling
- Assures adequate supplies at all work stations
- Complete daily coordinator shift report
- Makes decisions to drive production and meet performance metrics:
- Maintains the proper flow of work on the production floor, from warehouse, through production, to shipping by assigning and distributing work based on playbook
- Determines appropriate machine for each work order
- Assigns employees to task (hitters, packers, runners, etc.)
- Collects 2 hour metrics and update playbook file
- Ensures quality assurance.
- Approves first articles
- Inspects and confirms extra care orders
- Conducts routine quality audits during the shift
- Maintains authority to stop and report to a supervisor any quality issue that may arise during production
- Coaches employees on performance. Examples include: interpersonal conflicts between employees, insubordination, policy violations, etc. Recommends personnel-related actions to Production Supervisor for approval. Examples include: performance review feedback, promotions, disciplinary action.
- Monitors hour-by-hour performance and determines training needs
- Conducts daily shift meeting to share information
- Holds employees accountable for complying with policies
- Solicits continuous improvement ideas and supports implementation of continuous improvement plan.
- Order service desk requests for shortages and misprints
- Determine root cause of DNS (DidNotShip) and misprints, and takes appropriate action
- Orders inks, fixtures, screen re-burns, etc.
- Investigates customer returns
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge
- Must be able to read and interpret all information on production schedules and work orders – including decorating and shipping instructions
- Must be able to prioritize and track multiple workflows/orders
- Basic Excel, Word and Outlook skills
- Ability to handle multiple task and priorities
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Detail oriented, self-starter, able to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, motivate, and gain respect of production employees
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in Production Department
- High School or equivalent
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds; must be able to operate pallet jacks and dollies.
