Job Summary:
We are seeking an advanced CNC Programmer / Journeyman Machinist to support new product development and drive process excellence across the machine shop. This role is responsible for end-to-end programming and machining activities, including tooling, fixturing, prototyping, first article production, and process documentation.
This individual will also play a key leadership role in mentoring machinists, improving processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
Shift: 6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday
Responsibilities:
- Develop and program CNC machining processes for new product development
- Select tooling, design/build fixtures, and create setup and inspection documentation
- Produce prototype parts and complete first article inspections
- Partner with the Production Engineering Manager to ensure projects are completed on time and meet development goals
- Train and mentor machinists and shop personnel, including saw operations
- Identify and implement process improvements for both new and existing (legacy) jobs
- Lead setup reduction and efficiency improvements using lean manufacturing principles
- Implement corrective actions to reduce scrap and improve quality
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and regulations
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40–60 lbs
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment
- Advanced CNC programming experience (multi-axis preferred if applicable—add if true)
- Strong knowledge of tooling, fixturing, and machining processes
- Experience with prototyping and first article production
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Demonstrated experience mentoring or training other machinists
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and efficiency
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (preferred)
- Journeyman certification (preferred)
- Reliable attendance and strong time management skills
