Expressway Market & Deli is a locally owned and operated store in Bend, OR with a large and loyal customer following. We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Kitchen Manager to join our team and take us to the next level with unique Ideas/ offerings. This position will be in charge of the overall day to day operations of the kitchen area including management of kitchen staff, food costing, ordering and ensuring that the kitchen department runs smoothly and complies with safety regulations.
This positions duties also include:
- Create and implement new and exciting Ideas.
- Prepare and stock coolers daily, and facilitate all deli orders
- Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.
- Establish performance goals for department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome.
- Order, label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
- Prepare foods according to the food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
- Monitor and control expenses for the department.
- Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory.
- Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
- Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
Experience
- High school education or equivalent preferred
- Management experience
- Restaurants/ Deli experience
