NON-CDL BOX TRUCK DRIVER – PRODUCE DELIVERY
Job Summary
Lone Star Fruits & Vegetables, Inc. is seeking a dependable Non-CDL Box Truck Driver to deliver fresh produce and other food products to restaurants and businesses throughout the Houston area.
The ideal candidate has experience driving a box truck and making foodservice or produce deliveries. This is a physically demanding, customer-facing position that requires punctuality, accuracy, safe driving, and careful handling of products.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a non-CDL box truck on an assigned delivery route.
- Report to work on time and be ready to begin at 5:30 a.m.
- Review invoices and verify that the correct products are loaded before leaving.
- Load and unload produce, boxes, and other food products.
- Make accurate and timely deliveries to restaurants and businesses.
- Deliver products to the location designated by each customer.
- Obtain signatures or other proof of delivery when required.
- Verify products and quantities with customers when necessary.
- Protect refrigerated and perishable products during transportation.
- Communicate shortages, damaged products, refusals, delays, and customer concerns to the office.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Immediately report accidents, damage, mechanical problems, or safety concerns.
- Keep the truck’s cab and cargo area clean and organized.
- Follow company safety, sanitation, food-handling, uniform, and delivery procedures.
- Assist with loading, warehouse duties, or route preparation when needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Previous box-truck or commercial delivery experience.
- Produce, foodservice, restaurant-supply, refrigerated-delivery, meat, seafood, dairy, or grocery-delivery experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a hand truck or dolly.
- Ability to read invoices and confirm product names and quantities.
- Ability to follow delivery instructions and complete an assigned route.
- Dependable transportation to work.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Professional attitude when interacting with customers and coworkers.
- Ability to work independently and communicate problems promptly.
- Must pass a motor vehicle record review and any other applicable pre-employment screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to repeatedly lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull loaded hand trucks.
- Ability to bend, reach, climb in and out of a box truck, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work in refrigerated areas and outdoors in Houston weather.
- Ability to perform physical work throughout the delivery route.
Schedule
- Start time: 5:30 a.m.
- Workdays: Monday - Saturday
- End time varies depending on the route, traffic, delivery volume, and customer needs.
Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
