We are seeking a nurse practitioner or physician assistant that delivers high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing stem cell transplantation and related hematology/oncology treatments in the observation unit - stem cell. This role focuses on rapid assessment, clinical management, and short-term observation of patients at risk for post-transplant complications. The advanced practice clinician works collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to provide evidence-based care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities:-
Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories and physical examinations

Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in stem cell transplant and hematology/oncology patients

Monitor for and manage complications such as infection, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), cytokine release syndrome, and treatment-related toxicities

Order, interpret, and respond to laboratory and diagnostic studies

Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with scope of practice and institutional protocols

Coordinate care with hematologists/oncologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, pharmacists, and case management
-
Facilitate efficient patient flow, including admissions, observation management, and discharges
-
Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, symptom management, and follow-up care

Ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols for immunocompromised populations

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and implementation of evidence-based practices
Qualifications:-
Master’s or doctorate degree in nursing (MSN or DNP) or a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program

Current license in the state of practice

National certification (FNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PA-C)

Current DEA license and prescriptive authority
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
-
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Experience in hematology/oncology, stem cell transplant, or acute care medicine
-
Oncology certification (e.g., AOCNP, or oncology-focused PA experience)

Familiarity with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapies

Experience in hospital-based or observation unit settings
