Part-Time Physician — Orthopedic & Regenerative Medicine

Schedule: Part-time, by appointment only
Compensation: $250 per patient, plus a $3,000 monthly collaboration salary
Position Summary
Alabama Wellness & Aesthetics is seeking a skilled, patient-focused MD or DO to provide physician leadership for our orthopedic and musculoskeletal services. The physician will collaborate with and oversee a Nurse Practitioner, evaluate patients, establish treatment plans, and perform intra-articular and intramuscular injections.
The ideal candidate has experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain medicine, or another relevant musculoskeletal field. Experience with image-guided procedures and regenerative-medicine protocols is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Review medical histories, imaging, laboratory results, contraindications, and previous treatments.
- Develop and approve appropriate treatment plans.
- Perform intra-articular and intramuscular orthopedic injections.
- Use ultrasound or other image guidance when clinically appropriate.
- Administer qualifying orthobiologic or investigational regenerative products, including stem-cell or exosome-based products, only when permitted by applicable federal and Alabama law and appropriate regulatory authorization.
- Obtain and document informed consent, including discussion of investigational status, alternatives, potential benefits, limitations, and risks.
- Provide clinical collaboration and oversight for the practice’s Nurse Practitioner as required by Alabama law.
- Review charts, consult on complex cases, and remain available for clinical escalation.
- Establish and monitor clinical protocols, infection-control procedures, product handling, emergency response, and adverse-event reporting.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
- Participate in quality-assurance and peer-review activities.
- Provide ethical patient education without making unsupported treatment or outcome claims.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
- Active, unrestricted physician license in Alabama.
- Current DEA registration, if required for the position.
- Board certification or board eligibility in orthopedics, sports medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, or a related specialty.
- Demonstrated competency in musculoskeletal examinations and joint injections.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
- Eligibility for credentialing and malpractice coverage.
- No current license restrictions, exclusions, or unresolved disciplinary actions.
- Familiarity with Alabama requirements governing physician collaboration with Nurse Practitioners.
- Strong understanding of documentation, informed-consent, and scope-of-practice requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided injections.
- Experience collaborating with or overseeing Nurse Practitioners.
- Familiarity with orthobiologics, clinical research, or FDA-regulated regenerative-medicine protocols.
- Experience in outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, or interventional musculoskeletal care.
