We are seeking an experienced Panel Saw Operator to join our wood manufacturing team. This role is responsible for operating panel saw equipment to cut laminate, plywood, MDF, particleboard, and solid wood panels according to shop drawings, work orders, and cut lists.
Responsibilities
- Operate panel saw equipment to cut laminate, wood panels and components to specification
- Pull materials from stock using a hi-lo/forklift and stage them at the panel saw
- Load materials onto the saw bed using a lift table
- Read and interpret shop drawings, production drawings, cutting schedules, cut lists, and work orders
- Set up the machine, including blade changes, fence adjustments, and material alignment
- Measure and inspect cut parts for accuracy and quality
- Optimize material usage and minimize waste
- Count, sort, label, and stack finished pieces by work order and next work center
- Move finished work using a manual pallet jack or hi-lo/forklift
- Perform routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE and machine guarding
- Maintain a clean, organized work area using 5S or lean manufacturing practices
- Communicate material defects, production issues, or equipment concerns to leadership
- Support other production areas as needed
Qualifications
- Experience operating a panel saw or similar woodworking machinery
- Knowledge of woodworking materials, grain direction, and cutting techniques
- Ability to read tape measures, calipers, shop drawings, and technical drawings accurately
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attendance
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, walk, squat, and work with hands for extended periods
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work safely around operating machinery
- Comfortable working in a woodshop/manufacturing environment
