Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently facilitate patient intake processes, including collecting vital signs and updating medical histories.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support techniques.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately by documenting patient information, medical history, and treatment details.
- Prepare examination rooms by ensuring cleanliness, sterilization, and proper stock of supplies for dermatology, emergency medicine, or outpatient visits.
- Support medical office management tasks including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation.
- Conduct patient education on medications, treatment plans, and health management strategies based on physiology and anatomy knowledge.
- Collaborate with hospital teams for inpatient or trauma center experiences to ensure seamless patient care transitions and accurate record keeping.
Skills
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical records management.
- Proven experience in outpatient or inpatient settings with expertise in dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, or hospital medicine environments.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management to ensure precise documentation.
- Skilled in phlebotomy techniques and medication administration with certification in basic life support (BLS).
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle intake procedures efficiently while maintaining compassion and professionalism.
- Knowledge of hospital experience protocols including Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center procedures is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment supporting medical assisting duties across diverse specialties such as geriatrics or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
