The Payroll and Benefits Specialist plays a key role in supporting day-to-day Human Resources operations and ensuring accurate and timely payroll and benefits administration. This position is responsible for processing payroll, maintaining team member records, administering benefits programs, and supporting compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to maintaining confidentiality while delivering excellent team member customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll accurately, including wage adjustments, deductions, and reconciliations
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable wage and hour laws
- Administer team member benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations
- Serve as a point of contact for team member inquiries related to payroll and benefits
- Coordinate open enrollment and communicate benefits information to team members
- Reconcile benefit billing and payroll deductions
- Maintain and audit team member files to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, and year-end processes (e.g., W-2 preparation)
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes related to payroll and benefits
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in payroll and/or benefits administration
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour laws, and benefits programs
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, or similar)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar credential
- Experience in a Life Plan Community, healthcare, or senior living
- Knowledge of California payroll and employment regulations

Pay: $30.90 - $34.77 per hour
