OPERATING ROOM CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN
Shift: 7 AM - 3PM Alternating Weekends.
Starting Salary: $40.5225 ( Years of experience can inflate the starting salary rate )
Job Description:
- Prepares and maintains the "sterile field," ensuring all instruments, drapes, and supplies remain free of microorganisms to prevent patient infection.
- Acts as the surgeon's "third hand" by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures swiftly and often anticipating the surgeon's needs before they are voiced.
- Performs meticulous "counts" of all sponges, needles, and instruments with a nurse before and after the operation to ensure no foreign objects are left inside the patient.
- Sterilizes the OR, gathers specific surgical kits based on the procedure, and sets up advanced equipment like robotic or laparoscopic tools.
- Assists with positioning patients on the operating table, prepping incision sites with antiseptic, and applying sterile dressings once the surgery is complete.
- Cleans and restocks the OR, prepares used instruments for decontamination, and assists in transporting the patient to the recovery room.
Requirements/Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Required
- Preferred minimum of 1 year Operating Room related experience
- Preferred minimum of 1 year Neurology related experience NBSTSA
- National Certification as a Surgical Technologist required
- Legible handwriting
- Good communication skills (written, verbal and telephone)
- BLS required
