Job Summary:
Salary Range: $18.50 - $20.50 per hour
The Polisher is responsible for finishing stainless steel components to meet customer and internal quality specifications. This role uses a variety of grinding and polishing tools to achieve the required surface finishes for components produced for Data Cooling Centers (DCC). The Polisher ensures accuracy, consistency, and safe work practices throughout all finishing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform grinding, sanding, and polishing operations on stainless steel components to achieve required surface finishes (e.g., #4 brushed finish, sanitary finish, mirror finish).
- Remove weld discoloration, scratches, and surface imperfections in accordance with engineering drawings and Data Cooling Centers (DCC) specifications.
- Inspect parts visually and using measurement tools to verify finish quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, job travelers, and work instructions to ensure correct finishing standards.
- Use hand-held and stationary polishing equipment safely and effectively, including angle grinders, belt sanders, flap wheels, orbital sanders, and buffing wheels.
- Handle stainless steel components carefully to prevent contamination, scratching, denting, or distortion during finishing operations.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or fabrication preferred.
- Knowledge of stainless-steel finishing techniques and abrasive selection.
- Ability to safely operate polishing and grinding tools.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and work instructions.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in using basic tools and equipment.
