Technical/Professional Knowledge (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience)
- Basic computer skills and able to create and close out work orders.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in property maintenance and mechanical repairs in office, industrial and/or retail buildings.
- Two-year trade school certificate emphasizing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety and building control systems, preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to give clear direction and respond to inquiries.
- Ability to operate hand tools.
- Knowledge of First Aid and Safety procedures.
Description
The Building Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of building systems and equipment, performance of preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs, as directed. Also responsible for the successful completion of the day-to-day maintenance of property as directed and in accordance with Shea Properties standards, policies and procedures. The Building Engineer will report directly to the Chief Engineer. The Building Engineer is expected to be actively involved in working with tools, and in implementing repairs. The pay range for the position is $31.50 - $38.00/hour and the Building Engineer is also eligible to participate in the discretionary annual bonus plan.
