Job Summary
AgBest is currently seeking a Petroleum/Propane Energy Support Representative to play a pivotal role in delivering excellent customer service, customer retention, and new customer acquisition for our multi-location energy division, headquartered in Muncie, Indiana.
The Energy Support Representative is the most crucial part of AgBest’s sales process. The purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact for fuel tank maintenance, including delivery, setup, installation, and service of tanks. This position will assist in transporting fuel and perform other general maintenance, as needed.
Successful candidates will be expected to organize, manage, and develop relationships with customers and prospects in their territory. This position will represent and communicate AgBest’s petroleum and liquid propane products, services, policies, procedures, and programs to the customers/prospects, highlighting the benefits of choosing AgBest’s products while staying up to date on industry knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Install and set fuel tanks, and when necessary, provide removal of tanks
- Conduct field repairs of tank valves, seals, and lines
- Analyze and troubleshoot for leaks and repair equipment
- Understand and safely operate equipment and vehicle assigned
- Consistently follow all laws, regulations, and safety rules
- Provide excellent customer service
- Maintain positive communication with the supervisor and customer, as needed
- Properly complete necessary paperwork and records
- Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of equipment, building, and grounds
- Deliver oil and grease as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma (or the equivalent thereof) and two years or more of related work experience required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

- Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development. Must obtain an understanding of AgBest’s energy division products, merchandise, and services.
- Ability to manage and develop relationships with customers and outside vendors while projecting a positive image of AgBest. Able to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs, and comfortable soliciting customer feedback to improve service.
- As a leader, exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others to achieve objectives; accepts feedback from others and recognizes other’s achievements when appropriate.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and company specific software and the ability to understand and utilize additional technological tools and resources.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable professional certifications associated with the energy industry.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is preferred but not required.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work.

- Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, bend, reach overhead with hands and arms, finger keys (like keyboarding, controls on a scanner, fax, etc.), climb, balance, or sit for extended periods of time. Ability to work for extensive periods at computer keyboard.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 70lbs.
- May be required to work at varying heights.
- Ability to hear within normal range.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and on-call as business conditions warrant (primarily Spring and Fall).
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in possible extreme weather conditions, including cold, heat, wind, rain, etc., while scouting fields.
- Ability to travel independently to customer locations.
- Possible exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures in place.
- Work conducted in an office environment can be noisy and will involve interacting with team members and serving customer needs in an open area.
- Job location- must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate prior to beginning work.
- Must be able to work in a drug-free environment.
