Job Summary: The Buyer/Planner is primarily responsible for scheduling production, purchasing raw materials, coordinating material deliveries with production runs onsite and for remote manufacturing facilities. Works closely with manufacturing, distribution personnel and suppliers.
Wage Range:
$70,000 - $85,000 Annual Base Pay
Base pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below satisfactorily.
- Coordinate weekly and annual production schedules, working closely with production teams. Understand and reconcile differences between total production and available resources. Works closely with the S&OP specialist to execute the master schedule.
- Demonstrates an understanding of reasonable cost. Able to successfully apply purchasing concepts in negotiation to support cost savings strategies and obtain the best overall landed cost for goods and services. Responsible for review and submission of incoming invoices to Accounts Payable (AP) or Accounts Receivable (AR) to ensure charges are processed in a timely manner.
- Work cross functionally on various project teams to provide guidance and direction regarding the supply chain functions. Utilizes 4DX concepts to manage projects effectively.
- Can consistently execute the purchasing functions to maintain appropriate inventory levels to support a sales forecast. Ability to make sound decisions and take responsibility for the purchasing and scheduling functions. Maintain a professional demeanor with internal/external suppliers to represent the business in a positive manner.
- Release manufacturing orders weekly as needed for Operations. Review and release planned purchase orders daily. Monitor and react to action messages daily to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Understands the role of purchasing and production planning, the objectives, the policies and procedures of both functions. Maintain an organized filing system. Remain aware of areas for improvement and offer suggestions accordingly to achieve department and company objectives.
- Source suppliers through evaluation of technical capability, capacity, customer service, lead-time, quality, and cost. Prepare and evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate to achieve the best overall landed cost. Understands the basics of contract management to negotiate favorable outcomes.
- Understands inventory management and works to meet company and departmental objectives to deliver quality products on time and complete to our customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business Administration or Economics or three to five years of related experience and/ or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three years of experience using an ERP system.
- APICS Certification preferred.
- MFG planning and purchasing experience is required
- On-the-job training may be required.
