Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Technician to join our service team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with experience working on a variety of vehicle makes and models, including GM vehicles and diesel engines. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to ensure optimal performance, safety, and customer satisfaction. Candidates should possess excellent mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand tools and power tools, and familiarity with automotive electrical systems and schematics. Prior dealership or service technician experience is highly valued.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive diagnostic tools to identify issues with powertrain, transmissions, electrical systems, and other vehicle components
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on vehicles, including engine repairs, diesel engine work, alignments, wheel balancing, and welding as needed
- Service various vehicle systems such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), steering, suspension, and brakes
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems
- Replace or repair faulty parts using hand tools and power tools efficiently
- Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure safety standards are met before returning vehicles to customers
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed for each vehicle in accordance with dealership or shop policies
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs clearly and answering questions professionally
- Assist in estimating repairs and providing accurate auto estimates for customers when required
Skills
- Proven dealership or service technician experience with a solid understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair procedures
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various vehicle systems including powertrain, electrical systems, transmissions, and diesel engines
- Proficiency with schematics, automotive electrical systems, and diagnostic equipment
- Experience working on GM vehicles is preferred; familiarity with ADAS technology is a plus
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other automotive maintenance tools
- Ability to perform wheel alignments and vehicle maintenance tasks efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in diagnosing complex issues
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
