Please Note: This is an anticipated Extended School Year (ESY) Special Education postion dependent on grant funding.
Dates: July 6th - July 30th
Job Summary: This position will provide direct service to the needs of special education student and assess student current levels of performance for progress notes.
Responsibilities:

Provides direct service to the needs of special education students.

Prepares reports of formal and informal assessments.

Attends and participates in evaluation team meetings.
-
Administers a variety of standardized tests.

Prepares and maintains documentation for Case Management.

Participates in the IEP process, FBAs and behavior intervention plans.
- Provides direct service to students both in and out of the classroom.

Helps students overcome behavioral challenges.
Knowledge, skills and capabilities:
- Use of an Asset based team approach and strong collaboration with mental health professionals, general education and district staff

Demonstrated ability to write legally sound and educationally meaningful IEPs.

Implement evidence based instructional practices designed to address Common Core and SEL Standards

Ability to provide Specialized Instruction to identified students in a resource and inclusionary model

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positively oriented, safe learning environment
-
Strong communication skills

Understanding of Federal and State Special Education Regulations

Experience with students who exhibit high levels of anxiety, attention and behavioral needs

Demonstrates knowledge of trauma sensitive strategies and cultural competence
-
Demonstrates ability to motivate students using positive acknowledgements and personal interest.

Must be able to physically provide classroom control.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Certification & Licensing:

Must hold a RI Department of Education special education certification.

Physical Requirements:

Walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 45lbs.
