Ice Technician I
Department: Super Rink
Reports To: Super Rink Operations Manager

Position Summary
The Ice Technician I is responsible for maintaining high-quality ice conditions, supporting arena operations, assisting with staff training, and performing routine facility and equipment maintenance. This role helps ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for athletes, staff, and guests.
Key Responsibilities
Ice Maintenance
- Maintain ice surfaces to established quality and safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain proper ice thickness and consistency.
- Assist with ice installation and removal.
- Perform ice painting, including lines, logos, and other markings.
- Evaluate ice conditions and make adjustments as needed to support programming and events.
Staff Training and Support
- Train staff on the safe and effective operation of ice resurfacers.
- Monitor resurfacing practices, including ice shaving and water application techniques.
- Assist with ongoing staff training and development programs.
Arena Maintenance and Facility Upkeep
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of arena equipment and facility systems.
- Perform light maintenance and basic repairs on ice resurfacers (Zambonis), including routine inspections, fluid checks, battery maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist with preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and longevity.
- Document equipment conditions, maintenance needs, and repair requirements.
- Support general building upkeep to maintain a safe and professional facility environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Event Support
- Assist with arena setup, teardown, and operational support for events, tournaments, and special programs.
- Provide facility support to ensure events are conducted safely and efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Knowledge of indoor ice-making and ice maintenance practices.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on arena equipment.
- Strong communication and training skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in cold and wet environments for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and greater weights with assistance.
