Sutter West Bay Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled, collaborative Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Spine Surgery team in a unique, dual-focused role that blends first assist surgical care and high-acuity inpatient management.

As an integral member of the spine team, you will play a critical role both in the operating room and at the bedside, ensuring continuity and excellence in patient care:
Surgical Assist (Primary Focus)

Provide first assist support on spine procedures in a high-acuity OR setting

Collaborate closely with surgeons during advanced spinal surgeries

Support pre-operative preparation and intraoperative decision-making
Inpatient & Acute Care Management

Manage pre- and post-operative spine patients throughout hospitalization

Conduct daily rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care plans

Respond to acute clinical needs and urgent spine-related cases

Participate in call coverage for emergent inpatient issues

Dual Practice Model: Unique blend of OR first assist + inpatient spine management

High-Acuity Experience: Work on complex and specialized spine cases

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program
-
Current CA license (or ability to obtain)

Board Certification

Full schedule DEA
-
BLS Certification
-
Other Certification required for area of specialty
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in spine surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, or surgical subspecialty care

Experience in surgical settings/first assist

Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills

Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team-based, academic environment
