Job/Position Summary
Performs a wide variety of skilled duties involving the installation, repair and maintenance of walls, plumbing, fixtures equipment, heating/ventilating systems etc. Will generally be highly skilled in one of the trades and have a working knowledge of most other trades. Repairs and maintains machinery/equipment such as pumps, motors and HVAC, etc. Disassembles equipment and repairs or replaces broken parts. Must adhere to static and clothing regulations and follow safe operating/work procedures when using equipment, materials or processes.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Follow all safety, quality procedures, and work instructions.
- Perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment
- Trouble shoot and make repairs to facility electrical/ mechanical equipment and machinery, production process equipment, plumbing systems, HVAC systems etc. in accordance with specifications, operating manual, sketches and drawings.
- Install, replace or move plant electrical/mechanical and production processing equipment providing all necessary services to this equipment.
- Disassemble and remove old electrical/mechanical and production equipment from facility.
- Design and fabricate guards and fixtures for various production processing machines.
- Locate and contact suppliers to order parts for repair/assembly of fixtures.
- Maintain housekeeping in the work area.
- Other related duties as directed by management.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma and equivalent is required.
- 5+ years related experience. Experience in lieu of education can be considered.
- Associates Degree with 2-5 years related experience desired.
- Reading, writing and communicating in English.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Training all level technicians.
- Efficient in troubleshooting and repairing 100% of production equipment.
- Ability to perform equipment upgrades, to include working with Engineering to establish upgrades.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, or percentages.
- Basic electrical systems knowledge, basic mechanical systems understanding and the ability to use basic test equipment i.e. VOM, amp probe, circuit tracer, air balance hood and temperature measuring devices.
- Identify new equipment to meet manufacturing requirements.
- Knowledge of equipment desired and understanding of preventative maintenance.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Good understanding of various machine set-up and equipment operations.
- Ability to perform routine computer data entry and queries is required.
- Knowledge of basic computer operations.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete work assignments for the week with minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills.
- Must be able to communicate well with other Technicians and Engineers for direction, to include shift to shift pass down.
- Ability to share technical observations with other Technicians.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
Physical/Working Requirements
- Able to comply with requirements for respirator usage.
- Ability to lift material and equipment weighing up to 45lbs throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in confined places.
