We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Second Shift Dispatcher/Customer Service professional to join our dynamic transportation team. Responsibilities
- Dispatch freight shipments efficiently by utilizing transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine, Data Truck, Mcleod ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette and strong communication skills.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and provide real-time updates to stakeholders.
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, coordinating with warehouse teams to streamline freight flow and prevent delays.
- Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and transportation management platforms to maintain precise records of dispatch activities.
- Assist with freight inquiries from customers and carriers, providing detailed information on shipment status and delivery timelines.
- Support fleet management by tracking vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinating with drivers for efficient dispatching during the second shift.
Skills
- Strong analysis skills to interpret GPS, GIS data, and transportation metrics for effective decision-making.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400 Mcleod, Data Truck.
- Knowledge of logistics principles including supply chain management, transportation planning, shipping & receiving processes, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
- Experience with dispatching freight using transportation planning tools; familiarity with fleet management practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while maintaining courteous phone etiquette.
- Data entry expertise with high accuracy in fast-paced environments; typing skills are essential.
- Ability to analyze logistical data effectively to improve dispatch efficiency and supply chain performance.
