Job Summary
We are currently seeking a dedicated Dishwasher/Bakery Kitchen Assistant to work in our new flagship bakery. Responsibilities are dishwashing, cleaning throughout all areas of the bakery, trash maintenance, bakery equipment/refrigeration cleanliness maintenance, stocking and organizing as needed, while adhering to Board of Health requirements. Assist with bakery kitchen prep duties and boxing/packing or orders if needed. Ability to follow directions, work well as a team player or individually, be neat and organized. Effective time management and communications skills are essential.
Saturday is a mandatory workday. Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, all scratch bakery store and kitchen required. Must be flexible and able to work in all different areas of bakery as needed.
Duties:
- Operate commercial dishwashers efficiently to clean all cookware, utensils, dishes, and kitchen equipment according to food safety sanitizing procedures; wash specific items by hand when necessary
- Organize and put back all washed items in its proper storage area
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as ingredient setup, portioning, and organizing baking supplies in accordance with food handling standards
- Follow kitchen health and safety standards diligently to ensure sanitation and proper food handling practices are upheld at all times
- Handle manual tasks including heavy lifting of supplies and equipment safely while adhering to ergonomic guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen by sweeping, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly
- Assist with boxing/packing orders
- Assist with stocking and organizing food ingredients and supplies
Requirements:
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning is valued
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitation procedures is advantageous
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment and understanding of kitchen health and safety standards
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting busy bakery operations
