The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The Custodial Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and welcoming school environment throughout the academic year (August–May). Working under the direction of the Head Custodian, this part-time position performs routine custodial duties to support the daily operation of the school and promote the health, safety, and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Custodial Assistant also provides support with seasonal cleaning projects, room setups, and other facility needs as assigned.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the school building.
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets and rugs in classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Dust, wipe, and polish windows, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, hallways, classrooms, offices, and shared spaces.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and restroom products as needed.
- Assist with seasonal, deep-cleaning, and special maintenance projects as directed.
- Help set up and arrange rooms for school events, meetings, and activities when requested.
- Maintain custodial equipment and cleaning supplies in good working order.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and prioritize assigned tasks efficiently.
- Report maintenance concerns, repairs, or safety hazards promptly to the Head Custodian.
- Follow all school safety procedures and proper cleaning and sanitation protocols.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Communicate scheduling needs, absences, or operational concerns with the Head Custodian and custodial team in a timely manner.
- Maintain a professional and respectful working relationship with faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Support the mission and values of the Catholic Church and the school.
- Contribute to a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for the entire school community.
- Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and a spirit of service in all responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
