A Cook's Assistant is involved in a variety of kitchen activities, keeping your day interesting and never monotonous. You will help with food prep, dining room service, set-up, cleaning, and stocking.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of meals according to established menus, production schedules, and proper portion control.
- Support the head cook in daily kitchen operations and food service.
- Assist in preparing and serving meals, snacks, and special event food.
- Prepare food according to standardized recipes and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Prepare modified diets as directed.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure safe food handling and storage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and work area.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies.
- Follow all infection control, food safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Report equipment issues and safety hazards promptly.
- Work collaboratively nursing, and other departments to provide quality meal service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility preferred, but not necessary.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
- Ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team, and have dependable, regular attendance
- Experience in a hospitality environment, able to provide exceptional hospitality toward our residents and guests.
- A passion for food service and commitment to delivering high-quality meals.
