Job Summary
Reporting to the Group Leader or Department Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for supporting the daily execution of manufacturing operations through hands-on involvement on the production floor, while providing leadership for a team of employees. The Team Leader coordinates daily work activities, supports employee development and engagement, drives continuous improvement efforts, and helps ensure departmental goals for safety, quality and productivity are achieved.
The Team Leader is expected to perform production-related duties while leading, coaching, and supporting team members throughout the shift, completing standardized work audit sheets, tracking operational metrics, and problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership, work direction, coaching, and support for a team of approximately 5–20 employees.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Coach employees on safety procedures, quality standards, standardized work, and productivity expectations.
- Provide employee training and update training per procedures, including Safety, and ISO guidelines
- Work with Group Leaders on development and cross training of team members
- Provide feedback to Group Leader regarding employee performance
- Coordinate daily work assignments, hold regular team meetings
- Lead team communication and investigate production, quality, and safety concerns, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Support the achievement of departmental goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Record and use process metrics (Safety, Quality, Productivity, etc.)
- Utilize operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and support action plans.
- Monitor and report quality related data and reports, implement countermeasures to eliminate/reduce waste
- Monitor quality performance and support corrective actions to address defects and nonconformances.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, continuous improvement, standardized work, and problem-solving activities.
- Sustain 5S and housekeeping expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills, acting as a role model on attendance, dependability, and reliability
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate team members, a passion for improvement, and willingness to make things better
- Must possess solid interpersonal, communication, influencing, self-motivation, self-direction, and other soft leadership skills
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Basic Math, Reading, and Comprehension skills. Excellent time management skills
- Effectively use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, et al packages)
- Prior experience with ERP systems (such as Microsoft AX) preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean tools a plus (VSM, 5S, Kanban, TPM, SMED)
Position Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2 years in Manufacturing environment. Experience training, coaching, mentoring, or directing the work of others preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to perform production duties while leading and supporting team members.
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
