Description:
The Physical Therapist's primary responsibility is to perform physical evaluations and therapeutic treatments for physician-referred patients with disease or disability and provide direction to physical therapy assistants, students, and technicians to ensure quality treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates, plans, supervises, delegates, and administers physical therapy treatment plans to meet patient goals

Modifies patient treatments to reflect changes in goals and objectives when needed

Administers treatment programs to patients including, but not limited to, therapeutic exercises, isokinetic testing and training, gait training, therapeutic application of physical agents such as heat, cold, electricity, ultrasound, massage; manual therapeutic techniques, and functional training

Performs appropriate, timely documentation of patient care in accordance with department policy and procedures including recording patient’s reactions and progress during treatment and writing discharge summary when treatment is terminated

Communicates with physicians or other health personnel when indicated

Instructs and provides technical direction to physical therapist assistants and technicians assisting in patient care activities

Participates in clinical studies and guidance of physical therapy students

Counsels with patients and/or family as needed

Establishes home programs for patients and instructs patient and family in the performance of exercises as indicated

Performs other related duties as requested by the Physical Therapy Director and Senior Physical Therapists

Minimum Requirements:

Completion of Physical Therapy program from an accredited school

Active Physical Therapy license for the state of Tennessee/Mississippi

Active CPR Certification
Preferred:

Experience treating patients with advanced spinal problems
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software; knowledge of data entry and coding software

Effective communication, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations

Can provide excellent customer service and manage difficult or emotional situations

Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
