The Mail Sorting Department Associate plays a critical role in preparing printed materials—such as postcards, self-mailers, and letters—for delivery through the U.S. Postal Service. This position involves sorting mail by unique identifiers and tray tags, organizing pieces according to postal regulations, and ensuring each job is accurately prepped for shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately sort printed mail pieces (postcards, self-mailers, letters) based on tray tags, barcodes, and unique mail identifiers.
- Organize sorted mail into postal trays (MM trays, EMM trays, tubs, etc.) according to USPS standards.
- Affix necessary tags, labels, and paperwork for each tray or bundle, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Verify job tickets and quality checks to confirm correct counts and sortation.
- Work collaboratively with press, bindery, and inserting teams to maintain workflow and meet production timelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized sorting station and assist in general mailroom housekeeping.
- Assist with inventory of postal supplies such as trays, sleeves, and tags.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors about job status, discrepancies, or delays.
