Responsibilities
- Use sewing machines and hand sewing techniques to construct, alter, and repair garments according to specifications
- Measure customers accurately to ensure proper fit and make necessary adjustments for optimal comfort and appearance
- Collaborate with team members to interpret design sketches and customer requests for custom tailoring
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace equipped with sewing tools, fabrics, and patterns
- Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure durability, finish, and overall excellence
- Communicate effectively with customers about garment options, fitting procedures, and alterations needed
- Follow safety protocols when operating sewing machines and handling fabrics or other materials
Qualifications
- Proven experience in garment construction, sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail environment or similar setting
- Proficiency with sewing machines and hand sewing techniques
- Strong understanding of garment fitting, pattern reading, and fabric properties
- Knowledge of fashion trends and retail standards is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
