Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Construction MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Superintendent to lead and oversee complex MEP construction projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage on-site operations, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects while adhering to safety standards and project schedules.
Position Title: MEP Superintendent
Reports To: Project Executive / General Superintendent
Principle Responsibilities:
- To have sufficient knowledge of all MEP trades contracts and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications and to develop the onsite plans and procedures for the implementation including quality control efforts.
- To develop within the project documents, the quality control procedures and requirements.
- To have thorough knowledge of the job and to see that the work is performed as specified on drawings and specs.
- To plan and review the construction program with the General Superintendent including procedures, plan layout, equipment, and manpower.
- To work with the General Superintendent in the preparation of the construction project schedule, to keep him properly updated, and to see that the job does whatever is feasible to meet the required dates.
- To set up all project MEP requirements for temporary construction services.
- To examine all MEP drawings and specifications for design deficiencies, impractical details and constructability issues, and to refer any findings to the General Superintendent, who will bring them to the attention of the Engineer of Record.
- To work with the General Superintendent and Project Executive in scheduling and expediting the delivery of all MEP materials and equipment furnished by the Contractor and subcontractors, and to assume the primary responsibility for their timely onsite delivery along with the Project Executive.
- To coordinate, direct, and monitor the daily activities of all subcontractors, labor, and material.
- To coordinate, and direct when necessary, the activities of inspection agencies and to effect remedial actions indicated by the reports of these agencies.
- To keep the General Superintendent currently informed as to changes made in the field, so that such changes may be covered by change orders and subcontract change orders, to properly authorize, validate, and process all documents involving changes.
- To review and approve monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and all other disbursements.
- Responsible for communicating with design professionals and other project staff regarding project details and specifications, as directed by the General Superintendent.
- Maintain a good working relationship with Client, Subcontractors, Engineer, Vendors, City and Government Agencies, Inspectors and ensure project coordination, schedule and documentation on a regular basis throughout all stages of construction through project closeout.
- Maintain minimal disruption to occupied areas during construction.
- Responsible for reviewing MEP subcontractor work to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specs.
- Responsible for working with General Superintendent and/or the Project Executive to provide the necessary documentation, investigation, and reporting of all claim issues of extra work.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures for electrical work. Report all unsafe activities to client and Project Director.
- Inspect all MEP material and equipment at factory and in field as required to enforce plans, specs and material procurement requirements. Attend and witness all factory and field tests and provide written reports of same.
- Review and comment on shop drawings and field Sketches for MEP work at site.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications for MEP Superintendent:
- Bachelor’s degree a plus.
- Ability and desire to work collaboratively with large number of people to ensure successful project execution.
- Willing to be “hands-on” as needed.
- 5 plus years' experience in all phases of construction to include but not limited to, civil earthwork, formwork, rebar, concrete, structural, drainage, etc.
- Management of MEP trades
- Experience Procore or Planner System and Excel are a plus.
Pay: $230,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
