Turf Doc is seeking an experienced, organized, and driven Estimator / Project Manager to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in landscape construction, landscape enhancements, and commercial landscaping who can accurately estimate projects, manage budgets and schedules, and oversee successful project execution from proposal through completion.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience estimating and managing landscape installation, enhancement, and maintenance work, including mulch installations, planting, bed renovations, drainage, sod, seeding, irrigation, seasonal color, mowing, and other recurring landscape services. Experience with hardscape construction such as pavers, retaining walls, patios, and walkways is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates for landscape construction, enhancement, and maintenance projects.
- Estimate installation work including mulch, planting, sod, grading, drainage, irrigation, seasonal color, landscape renovations, and hardscape projects.
- Develop pricing for recurring landscape maintenance services including mowing, trimming, edging, leaf removal, and seasonal cleanups.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Conduct site visits to gather measurements, assess site conditions, and prepare competitive proposals.
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for commercial landscape projects.
- Manage awarded projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with field crews, vendors, subcontractors, and clients throughout each project.
- Prepare change orders, monitor project costs, and maintain profitability.
- Procure materials and schedule deliveries.
- Build strong relationships with clients while identifying opportunities for additional enhancement work.
- Ensure projects meet Turf Doc's standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Required: 3+ years of experience estimating and/or managing commercial landscape construction or enhancement projects.
- Strong knowledge of commercial landscaping, installation techniques, plant material, irrigation, grading, drainage, and maintenance operations.
- Experience developing estimates for both one-time installation projects and recurring landscape maintenance services.
- Experience pricing services such as mulch installation, mowing, planting, seasonal cleanups, and landscape enhancements.
- Ability to read landscape, civil, and grading plans.
- Strong understanding of labor production rates, equipment costs, and material pricing.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with estimating software, Aspire, LMN, Bluebeam, or similar programs is preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hardscape construction including pavers, retaining walls, natural stone, concrete, and outdoor living spaces.
- Experience bidding commercial HOA, municipal, retail, industrial, or office landscape projects.
- Familiarity with enhancement sales and identifying opportunities to expand existing customer accounts.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
