Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team on a rotating schedule of 21 days on, followed by 7 days off. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, including excavators, cranes, and bucket trucks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical expertise, strong diagnostic skills, and a passion for maintaining and repairing heavy equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of heavy machinery fleet, supporting our operational excellence and safety standards.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, and other heavy machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics, OEM manuals, and electrical diagrams to identify root causes efficiently.
- Conduct repairs on transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and diesel engines to ensure optimal functioning.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools to meet specific repair requirements.
- Maintain detailed service records for all equipment repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
- Support heavy lifting tasks and tire services to keep machinery operational in demanding environments.
Skills
- Proven dealership or service technician experience with heavy equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across heavy machinery, and vehicle maintenance.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and OEM manuals for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; experienced with power tools and hand tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, air brake systems, alignment procedures, suspension components, and electrical systems.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators or cranes is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform tire services and heavy lifting safely; familiarity with HVAC systems.
