POSITION: Physical Therapist Assistant
RESPONSIBLE TO: Rehabilitation Services Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing high-quality physical therapy services to patients of Orlando Orthopaedic Center (OOC) under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Assists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans designed to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit physical disabilities. Collaborates with Physical Therapists, physicians, rehabilitation staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure delivery of effective, evidence-based patient care consistent with organizational policies, professional standards, and Florida Physical Therapy Practice Act requirements.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program, required
- Current, unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license in the state of Florida, required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferred
- Strong knowledge of orthopaedic rehabilitation protocols, therapeutic exercise, and physical therapy interventions
- Knowledge of documentation standards, ICD-10 coding, CPT coding and charge diversification, and payer requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, coworkers, and other healthcare providers
- Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
- Professional image (dress, manner, attitude, and communication)
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with physician referrals, established plans of care, organizational policies, and applicable state regulations.
- Implement and execute individualized treatment plans utilizing appropriate therapeutic interventions as delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and changes in patient status to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Assist the Physical Therapist with data collection, treatment progression, and reassessment activities within scope of practice.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, home exercise programs, proper body mechanics, and expected outcomes as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of treatments provided, patient response, and progress toward established goals.
- Follow established rehabilitation protocols and clinical pathways.
- Collaborate with certified Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, and clinic support staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure patient safety and compliance with organizational policies.
- Assist in maintaining therapy equipment and treatment areas and report equipment malfunctions or facility concerns.
- Maintain required clinic productivity expectations while delivering high-quality patient care.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Participate in department meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support clinic operations through flexibility in scheduling and clinic coverage at any location as assigned by Rehabilitation Services Manager.

- Perform other duties as assigned by Rehabilitation Services Manager.

Typical Physical Demands
Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, lifting, transferring, and assisting patients during treatment activities. Exposure to typical therapy clinic environments. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Employee will at times work under stressful conditions.
Typical Working Conditions
Primarily works in an outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation environment.
Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
