Ashley & Vance Engineering is looking for a Senior Forensic Engineer to join our team in our Denver, CO office location.

At AV, you’ll sharpen your engineering skills alongside a talented, supportive team that’s passionate about what they do. We’re proud of our strong mentoring culture; while working directly alongside the Principal in charge of the forensic engineering team, you will also actively mentor junior engineers and technical staff while directing forensic field work and preparing and reviewing forensic reports. On a typical day, you’ll manage project budgets, schedules, and documentation to ensure strict adherence to professional and ethical standards.
Your hands-on work will involve conducting forensic investigations of structural systems, building envelopes, and civil grading or drainage conditions, as well as observing existing buildings to perform non-destructive and selective destructive evaluations. Along the way, you will analyze design documents, run structural calculations to assess code compliance, and ask the right questions to get to the cause of failures. Ultimately, this will culminate in the preparation of clear, detailed written reports providing your professional engineering opinions on construction defects across a variety of projects—from custom homes and remodels to industrial and commercial facilities.

Coordinate and direct forensic fieldwork, destructive/non-destructive evaluations, and root-cause analysis across diverse project types.

Play a key role in shaping the next generation of engineers by sharing your expertise and directing junior staff.

Apply your critical thinking to a wide variety of construction defect cases and litigation support projects.
We’re looking for candidates who:

Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering. MS preferred.

PE license required.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience with 5+ years of experience in forensic investigations, building condition assessments, and/or litigation support.

Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, construction methods, and materials.

Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and analytical abilities.

Excellent communication skills.

Ready to travel regularly for out-of-state investigations and the ability to perform hands-on work in varied field conditions.

Starting Yearly Salaries: $125,000 – $195,000 DOE & Location
