Job Overview
The Credit Union Teller is responsible for providing exceptional member service while accurately and efficiently processing financial transactions. This position serves as a primary point of contact for members, assisting with account transactions, answering inquiries, and educating members about credit union products and services.
The Teller is expected to maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism while handling cash, negotiable instruments, and confidential member information. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering a positive member experience.
Successful candidates will proactively identify members' financial needs, recommend appropriate products and services, and contribute to the credit union's mission of providing outstanding service while fostering lasting member relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Processing:
- Accurately process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and other financial transactions in person or over the phone.
- Cash checks and issue cashier's checks and money orders.
- Sell and load prepaid VISA cards.
- Receive and process payments for loans and other credit union products in person or over the phone.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions.
- Balance cash drawer throughout the day and at the end of each shift.
Member Service:
- Greet members in a warm, friendly, and professional manner, creating a welcoming experience with every interaction.
- Answer incoming calls promptly with courtesy and urgency, ensuring members receive timely and effective assistance.
- Provide support to members regarding debit and credit card services, including basic troubleshooting and account assistance.
- Educate members on available credit union products, services, and benefits to help meet their financial needs.
- Accurately direct members to the appropriate department or staff member for specialized assistance when necessary.
- Maintain a positive, member-focused attitude while delivering exceptional service through all communication channels.
Compliance and Security:
Compliance and Security Responsibilities
- Comply with all credit union policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Adhere to applicable federal and state regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and other regulatory requirements.
- Identify, document, and promptly report suspicious or unusual activity in accordance with established procedures.
- Protect the confidentiality and security of member information and credit union assets.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist members with opening, maintaining, and closing accounts as needed.
- Order checks, office supplies, and other materials necessary for daily operations.
- Promote and cross-sell credit union products and services that meet members' financial needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Participate in training, meetings, and professional development activities as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of cash handling experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Schedule:
- Full-Time: 40 hours per week M-F, no nights or weekends
Compensation
- Pay Range: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
- Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
