Overview:
Koch & Koch, Inc. is a family-owned general engineering and electrical contractor based in Grass Valley, CA. We perform public works and civil construction projects including lift stations, pump stations, sewer and water systems, underground utilities, excavation, grading, dewatering, concrete, paving, demolition, electrical, and site restoration.
We are looking for a dependable, experienced Construction Foreman to help lead field crews on upcoming public works projects. The right person will be hands-on, organized, safety-minded, and able to run portions of a job with direction from the superintendent/project manager.
This position is best suited for someone with experience in underground utilities, lift stations, pump stations, heavy civil, site work, or public works construction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and work alongside field crews on civil/public works projects
- Coordinate daily labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activity
- Read and understand plans, specifications, grades, and project schedules
- Lay out work and keep crews productive throughout the day
- Oversee excavation, trenching, pipe installation, backfill, compaction, concrete, grading, paving, demo, and site restoration
- Coordinate with equipment operators, electricians, pipe crews, inspectors, and project managers
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite
- Track daily progress, manpower, equipment, deliveries, and field issues
- Communicate clearly with the superintendent/project manager about schedule, materials, conflicts, and changes
- Help train and develop laborers and operators
- Ensure work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently
Qualifications:
- Foreman, leadman, or strong heavy civil field experience preferred
- Experience with underground utilities, sewer, water, lift stations, pump stations, or public works construction strongly preferred
- Ability to read plans and understand grades, elevations, and layout
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, open trenches, traffic control, bypass pumping, and active jobsites
- Able to manage crews while still being willing to work hands-on when needed
- Valid driver’s license required
- Reliable transportation required
- Strong safety mindset required
Preferred Experience:
- Sewer and water pipeline installation
- Lift station or pump station construction
- Precast vaults, wet wells, manholes, and mechanical piping
- Excavation, shoring, trench safety, and dewatering
- Concrete forming, equipment pads, and site concrete
- Grading, paving, and site restoration
- Public works inspections and prevailing wage jobs
- Basic electrical coordination experience is a plus

Pay: $35.00 - $65.00 per hour
