Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Surgical First Assistant to work directly with our surgeon in a wide range of plastic and reconstructive procedures. The candidate must be able to suture profiently and assist in all phases of a surgical patient’s visit. Confidentiality and maintenance of HIPPA are required.
Responsibilities
- Surgical Assisting: Serve as the First Assistant during procedures, demonstrating a deep understanding of plastic surgical techniques.
- Suturing: Utilize high-level hand skills to suture proficiently using a wide range of suture materials.
- OR Preparation: Perform pre-operative setup, including preparing the operating room, arranging instrumentation, and monitoring equipment.
- Intra-operative support: Monitor and pass instruments efficiently, assist with patient positioning, and perform skin preparation.
- Safety & Counts: Maintain strict, accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps throughout operations.
- Post-operative Care: Oversee post-operative cleanup, including equipment processing, sterilization, and maintenance.
- Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and facility policies.
Qualifications
- Certification: First Assistant certification (CSFA) or equivalent documented clinical experience is required.
- Experience: Proven experience specifically within plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of sterile technique, OR protocols, and advanced suturing skills.
- Soft Skills: Strong focus, ability to remain calm under pressure, and excellent communication skills to work closely with the surgical team.
- Reliability: Ability to commit to the Tuesday and Thursday schedule (7:00 AM start time).
