American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience including at least 2 years of walk-in/waiting room triage.

Large, short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center with 1,567 staffed beds
-
Emergency Department with assignment to one primary campus and possibility of rotating to other campuses and ED observation

This position is primarily scheduled as a Triage Nurse, with opportunity to train in the clinical space based on department scheduling needs
-
Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage float, or locked behavioral health units
-
Average patient ratio of 1:6 on both day and night shifts

Schedule: 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:00)
-
Every other weekend required
-
No on-call required

Floating within scope to other campuses and ED observation to meet facility needs

Block scheduling can be accommodated

Charting via Epic

Parking costs approximately $125/month

Active CT or Compact RN license required

Nurses with prior actions on their license will not be considered

Minimum 3 years of overall RN experience; minimum 2 years of walk-in/waiting room triage experience required

Level I Trauma Center experience at a large facility required

Triage skills required
-
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC

1 professional reference required for consideration

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted for this role

Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being eligible to work as a traveler

RTO of up to 7 days may be auto-approved; RTO exceeding 7 days requires manager approval
-
Weekend call-out policy: any missed weekend shift must be made up on another weekend shift within the following 6-week scheduling period

Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted

COVID vaccine and booster required; religious or medical exemptions may be considered
-
Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
-
Friday start dates begin with all-virtual orientation, with onsite reporting beginning the following Monday
