Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of educational programs and activities for students with special needs
- Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Provide small group instruction to students based on their individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Help students with daily tasks such as personal hygiene, eating, and mobility, if needed
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians
- Maintain accurate records of student behavior and academic performance
Qualifications:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children, especially those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with deaf education, early childhood education, special education, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.
- Patience and Empathy: The ability to work with diverse student populations and demonstrate patience and empathy is crucial in this role.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary to keep track of student progress, maintain records, and assist in classroom management.
- Math Skills: Basic math skills are required to support students in their mathematical learning.
