Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Firestop Technician to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and maintaining firestop systems designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke within buildings. Duties
- Install firestop systems according to blueprints, schematics, and project specifications using hand tools and power tools.
- Conduct thorough inspections of fire-rated assemblies, ensuring compliance with safety codes and standards.
- Read and interpret construction blueprints, schematics, and detailed drawings to accurately execute installation plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and inspectors to coordinate work sequences and troubleshoot issues on-site.
- Utilize construction management software such as Bluebeam for documentation, markups, and project tracking.
- Operate heavy equipment when necessary for material handling or site preparation related to firestop installations.
- Perform quality control checks, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Assist with other construction tasks such as caulking, trim carpentry, drywall installation, or restoration work as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to OSHA guidelines and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Experience
- Proven experience in construction inspection or installation roles within commercial or industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of firestop systems, building codes, and safety regulations related to fire protection.
- Skilled in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with construction estimating and project management software like Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Background in related trades such as plumbing, electrical work, masonry, carpentry (including trim carpentry), roofing, or drywall is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on construction sites with diverse teams while maintaining high safety standards. Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
