Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated fully licensed Child and Adolescent Therapist to join our team. (Play therapy skills preferred). In this vital role, you will provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and adolescents facing a variety of emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Your expertise will help foster resilience, promote mental well-being, and support families through personalized care plans. This position offers close-knit team support in a non-profit agency supported by the PCUSA church community.
Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents to identify their unique needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, art therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions focusing on behavioral health, trauma recovery (including PTSD care), gender issues counseling, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Engage in crisis intervention and conflict management to ensure safety and stability for clients experiencing urgent mental health concerns.
- Collect and document medical records, patient assessments, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with school counselors, educators, social workers, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans that address the holistic needs of each client.
- Utilize culturally sensitive counseling techniques to support diverse populations and promote inclusive mental health practices.
Skills
- Extensive experience in counseling practice settings working directly with children and families.
- Proficiency in data collection methods for tracking client progress and treatment efficacy.
- Strong background in behavioral therapy, social work, and crisis management strategies.
- Skilled in various therapeutic modalities including play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, art therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation standards, and medical records management.
- Ability to perform mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations accurately.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
- Excellent case management skills combined with the ability to conduct intake sessions effectively.
- Cultural diversity counseling expertise to serve diverse populations respectfully and effectively.
- Strong communication skills for engaging children, adolescents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
