Acxess Spring is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team in Colton, California. We manufacture custom and stock round-wire springs, and this position plays an important role in ensuring our products meet specifications and quality requirements before reaching our customers.
This is a hands-on quality position combining product inspection, manufacturing documentation, inventory verification, and packaging. The position is approximately 80% office-based and 20% warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on custom and stock springs to ISO 9001 standards.
- Measure and verify spring length, diameter, wire diameter, and force/load.
- Use calipers, load-testing equipment, and other applicable inspection tools.
- Inspect incoming wire and verify applicable dimensions and material information.
- Compare manufactured products against specifications, manufacturing documentation, and customer requirements.
- Identify, document, and communicate quality issues and nonconforming products.
- Review manufacturing Travellers and related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Create and maintain quality-control inspection paperwork.
- Prepare Certificates of Conformance (C of Cs) and other required quality documentation.
- Maintain accurate inspection and quality records.
- Count and verify finished-product quantities.
- Package completed products for inventory or shipment.
- Perform periodic checks of wire and material stock and assist with physical inventory verification.
- Support production personnel with quality-related questions and inspection decisions.
- Occasionally communicate with customers regarding quality questions, inspection results, or documentation.
- Assist with incoming telephone calls as part of the office team.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working with measurements, numbers, and detailed documentation.
- Ability to use calipers and other measuring equipment, or the mechanical aptitude to learn quickly.
- Ability to use or learn load-testing equipment.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Comfortable using macOS computers.
- Familiarity with Excel, spreadsheets, document software, and common office applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Dependable and able to work independently while working closely with production and office personnel.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in quality control, manufacturing, inspection, inventory, production, machining, or a related environment is preferred.
Experience with calipers, load testers, precision measurement, blueprints, or manufacturing drawings is a plus.
Previous spring-manufacturing experience is not required. Candidates earlier in their careers with relevant technical training, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
