Every parent who calls us is about to do something that scares them: hand their 15-year-old the keys.
At Jungle Driving School, we teach first-time teenage drivers — and we know that what we're really doing is earning the trust of parents who are not at all sure about this. That trust gets built in the first phone call, long before anyone gets in a car. It gets built by someone who listens, answers honestly, and follows through.
That's this job.
We're opening our Ladue location, and this is among our first hires. You would work directly alongside the owner and you would own how families experience us from their first question to their first lesson.
We're looking for someone who
- Genuinely likes talking to people, including worried people
- Writes the way a real person talks, and takes pride in doing it well
- Can talk to a 15-year-old like they're capable, and to their parent like they're not being sold to
- Stays steady when someone is frustrated, and doesn't take it personally
- Knows the difference between following the process, making a sensible exception, and getting help
- Follows through without being reminded
- Wants the work to matter, and wants to see the result of it inside a week
If you want a quiet desk job where the phone mostly doesn't ring, this isn't it. If you want to be the reason a family chooses us, keep reading.
The schedule
- Monday through Thursday, 1:00pm – 7:00pm, on-site in Ladue
- One Saturday morning per month, 9:00am – 12:00pm, paid as additional hours
- Occasional extra hours around school events, paid as worked
Afternoons and early evenings are when parents are actually free to call. That's why the shift sits where it does.
What you'll do
Answer the phone, and answer it well. Most families find us by phone or web form. You'll take those calls, figure out what the family actually needs, and get a lesson on the calendar. Some parents want our safety record. Some want to know why we cost more than the school across town. Some just want to hear that it's going to be okay.
Work the follow-up. Not everyone books on the first call. You'll run a structured sequence of calls, voicemails, texts, and emails, and you'll stay with a family until they enroll or tell us they've gone elsewhere. Leads that arrive overnight get worked at the start of your shift, every day. This is the part of the job that grows the business, and it's the part we'll measure.
Run the front desk. Greet parents and students who come in. Handle scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations. Take payment through our online checkout. Keep our records accurate.
Catch problems early. We survey parents after lessons. You'll watch what comes back, follow up on anything that isn't glowing, and handle first-line concerns and refund requests using our written procedures. Anything involving an instructor goes straight to Matt, our Lead Instructor. Anything outside the procedures comes to Shannon.
Keep our social presence responsive. Reply to comments and messages on Facebook and Instagram. Post the content Shannon and Matt produce — and chase us both when we're slow to hand it over. Thank people who leave good Google reviews.
You won't be creating content, filming, or building marketing campaigns. This is a communication and enrollment role.
What you need
- Customer service experience in any industry
- Clear, warm writing — you'll write to parents every day, and we'll teach you our voice
- Real comfort on the phone with adults
- Accuracy with records and details
- High school diploma, valid driver's license, clean driving record
- A background check, the same one we run on our instructors
Helpful, not required: sales or appointment-setting experience, or time spent in a school, sports, tutoring, or childcare setting. We'll train you on our phone system, scheduling software, and everything about how a driving school works.
One thing that isn't negotiable. You'll have access to real information about minors and their families — names, birthdates, schools, home addresses, instructor notes. Handling that carelessly is the fastest way out of this job.
What we offer
- $20.00/hour, W-2
- Two weeks of annual paid time off, accrued monthly
- Free driver's education for your children or grandchildren
- Direct work with the owner, and no layers in between
- Real room to grow. We're adding staff and locations, and this role could become office manager or marketing associate as we expand.
To apply
Take a look at us first — we'd rather you apply because the place appeals to you, not because the posting scrolled by.
Apply through Indeed with your résumé and a few sentences about why this one caught your eye. We'll start with a short phone conversation. If it goes well, we'll ask you to write something brief before we meet in person.
