Role Purpose
The Plumber & Drain Repair Technician is a customer-facing field position responsible for diagnosing plumbing, drain, and sewer problems, recommending appropriate solutions, presenting repair options to customers, and performing or coordinating approved work.
Our technicians combine strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, professionalism, and excellent customer service. The technician must be able to accurately identify the source of a problem, clearly explain the findings, recommend appropriate solutions, and help the customer make an informed decision.
This is primarily a technical field position with performance-based earning opportunities. In addition to hourly compensation, technicians have the opportunity to earn commission on qualified work sold and/or completed in accordance with the company’s compensation plan.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and locate plumbing, drain, and sewer problems.
Troubleshoot residential and commercial plumbing and drainage systems.
Perform sewer camera inspections and accurately identify damaged, deteriorated, blocked, or problematic areas.
Clearly explain inspection findings and recommended solutions to customers.
Present appropriate repair, replacement, and maintenance options based on the condition of the plumbing or sewer system.
Prepare and present estimates according to company pricing, policies, and procedures.
Obtain customer authorization before beginning work.
Perform plumbing and drain repairs within the technician’s experience, qualifications, and assigned scope of work.
Identify larger or specialized projects requiring additional technicians, equipment, or installation crews.
Coordinate with supervisors, dispatch, and installation teams when additional work is required.
Properly document diagnoses, estimates, photos, videos, recommendations, customer approvals, and completed work.
Maintain accurate job records in the company’s field management system.
Communicate professionally with customers throughout the entire service call.
Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and customer care.
Meet company expectations for productivity, customer satisfaction, technical performance, and sales performance.
Maintain company tools, equipment, materials, and assigned vehicle in clean and professional condition.
Follow company procedures and all applicable safety requirements.
Qualifications
Professional plumbing and/or drain service experience 4yr.
Strong knowledge of plumbing, drain, and sewer systems.
Ability to diagnose plumbing and drainage problems independently.
Experience with sewer cameras and drain diagnostic equipment preferred.
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to customers.
Comfortable presenting estimates and repair options directly to customers.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Professional appearance and attitude.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to properly document field work using mobile technology.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with plumbing and drain service work.
