Position Summary
The Stylist Assistant works directly alongside one of our lead stylists, helping create an exceptional experience for every guest while learning advanced technical and customer service skills. This position is designed for someone who is eager to grow, takes pride in their work, and wants to build a successful career behind the chair.
The Assistant plays an important role in ensuring services run efficiently, clients feel cared for, and the stylist can focus on delivering outstanding results.
ResponsibilitiesClient Experience
- Welcome guests and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit.
- Shampoo and condition clients.
- Perform relaxing scalp massages during shampoos.
- Escort clients to and from the shampoo area.
- Offer beverages and maintain a luxury guest experience.
- Keep each station clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the day.
Technical Support
- Mix color accurately following stylist formulas.
- Prepare foils, bowls, brushes, developers, and tools before each service.
- Apply color or toners when directed by the stylist.
- Assist with blow-drying and styling.
- Remove foils, rinse color, and perform treatments.
- Help install, remove, or maintain hair extensions as instructed.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work area between every guest.
Salon Operations
- Launder towels and capes.
- Sanitize brushes, combs, and tools.
- Restock color, backbar products, and retail inventory.
- Help keep dispensary and storage areas organized.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the salon.
Professional Development
- Observe advanced cutting, coloring, blonding, and extension techniques.
- Participate in education provided by Matty Lee Hair.
- Practice technical skills under supervision.
- Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Accept coaching and implement feedback consistently.
Qualifications
- Current Georgia cosmetology license or enrollment in cosmetology school if hours align.
- Passion for the beauty industry.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
