<Overview>
Our Junior Aide will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher and/or Assistant Teacher to support the daily care and activities of our classroom. This entry-level opportunity is for individuals who have a passion for working with children and are considering a future career in early childhood education. As a NAEYC-accredited program, we are committed to high-quality, child-centered care — and our Junior Aides play an important role in supporting that mission. We are looking for a patient, reliable, and nurturing individual who genuinely enjoys being around young children.
<Key Responsibilities>
- Interact with children in a manner that clearly conveys love and acceptance; respond by holding, smiling,and speaking in a positive tone of voice
- Respect the dignity and individuality of every child in accordance with the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
- Assist children in developing self-help skills and healthy habits
- Support the Lead and Assistant Teacher during classroom activities, meals, nap time, and transitions
- Actively supervise children and maintain a safe, nurturing environment during all activities, meals, nap time,and transitions
- Help with the clean-up of snacks, meals, and activities
- Sanitize equipment daily; assist with sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other assigned cleaning tasks
- Assist and actively supervise children during toileting periods
- Display respect for all individuals — children, families, and staff
- Follow all health, safety, and center policies and procedures
- Ask for help and assistance from supervising staff when needed
- Be prompt and dependable in attendance; if absence is necessary, notify the director at least two hours before the start of shift
- Work under the direction of the Lead Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Director
- Other duties as assigned
<Qualifications>
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must not have a conviction for any offenses as stated in regulations as required by law
- Must pass background check and health screening
- Demonstrate a patient and loving attitude toward young children
- Be reliable and conscientious in carrying out assigned duties
- Be flexible in working with different age groups
- Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
<Physical Requirements>
This position requires the ability to move freely throughout the day including bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and sitting on the floor. Employees must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Outdoor time is a required part of our daily program — staff are required to be outside with children in all weather conditions. Additional demands include responding calmly in unexpected situations and assisting with personal hygiene, medical needs, and feeding as needed.
