About the Role:
404 Ready Mix is seeking a highly skilled and energetic Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Experience working on Mixer trucks - is a plus but not required. These specialized vehicles transport ready-mix concrete from batching plants to job sites while keeping it workable through continuous internal agitation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using OEM manuals, schematics, and specialized tools.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, and inspections on trucks, farm machinery, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Fabricate custom parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational needs.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including wiring harnesses and sensors to identify faults and implement effective repairs.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing phases to ensure proper functioning post-maintenance.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed to ensure compliance with safety standards and OEM specifications.
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of complex machinery components during major repairs or upgrades.
Requirements:
- Preferred knowledge with truck software: Davie4, Tech Tool, Cummins Insite, Jpro
- Troubleshooting
- Aftertrearment DEF wiring
- Preferred working experience with: Mack, Enging MP7, Freightliner, Engine DD13, Peterbuilt, Paccar
- Proven dealership or heavy equipment service technician experience with strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and suspension components.
- Expertise in automotive diagnostics combined with the ability to read schematics accurately for troubleshooting complex electrical issues.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools for precise repairs.
- Experience working with OEM parts and understanding manufacturer specifications for vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during tire service or component replacement tasks.
