QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Must have ability to safely drive a transit bus throughout the 10-county region. Patient, calm, and safety conscious with customers and be able to effectively communicate with people.
Education: High school diploma or certified GED from a recognized institution.
Skills: Must have a strong sense of responsibility, pay attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills in working with co-workers, customers, the elderly, and supervisors. Must have basic computer skills, be able to operate push-talk radio and tablets, and operate wheel-chair lifts.
Experience: Driving commercial vehicles and customer service preferred
Licenses: Current & valid Georgia Driver’s License
Other: Must pass criminal background checks and drug/alcohol testing and have a clean 7-year MVR.
POSITION SUMMARY
Drives an assigned bus, on a determined route, to transport clients to scheduled locations. Performs pre and post inspections of bus at beginning and end of each day. Maintain vehicle assigned to driver relative cleanliness, identification of operational and/or mechanical problems and complete daily driver log.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Drivers must perform each function, as needed, on a daily basis:
- Perform pre and post inspections of vehicles to detect any mechanical or operational problems.
- Use road maps, follow directions, use hand-held radios and the vehicle tablet.
- Maintain a log of each trip to include pick-up address, destination address, times, passenger name, and any incident.
- Be courteous and considerate of passengers at all times. Report any and all incidents to management in a timely manner.
- Provide occasional trips out of county and/or region.
- Maintain fuel logs and keep vehicle fueled at all times.
- Assist and secure any and all passengers that use the chairlift, wheelchairs, and/or walking aids.
- Be safety conscious at all times – no use of cell phones or eating when driving.
- Wear supplied logo shirts and be neat and clean at all times when driving.
- Be flexible and cooperative when handling a variety of tasks and duties as requested.
- Make quick decisions in emergency situations, including inclement weather, traffic delays, and medical failures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, other drivers, and customer that may need to resolve disputes, answer questions, and provide information about destinatin or pickup points.
- Adhere to safety regulations at all times, including wearing seatbelts, following traffic signals, speed limits, and avoiding distractions while driving.
- Reliable, punctual, able to work independently, while following company policies and procedure.
- Performs other appropriate tasks and duties as assigned.
- Contributes to the positive atmosphere of the CRC.
- Participate in the teamwork approach to completing tasks.
- Share information with other department staff members.Collaborate and coordinate with other staff members within the CRC.

Working Environment
- On the road traveling throughout 10-county region.
- Requires flexibility and cooperation to handle a variety of tasks and duties as requested.
- Work in various weather and road conditions.
- Attend meetings as required.
Physical Requirements
- Maintenance check of vehicle before and after each trip.
- Assisting customers on/off bus.
- Operating the wheelchair lift.
- Locking in wheelchairs on bus.
- Maintaining composure in heavy traffic.
Pay: From $15.71 per hour
