RLF is currently seeking a full-time entry level Mechanical Engineer with a focus in plumbing. The Mechanical Engineer will assist in preparing detailed drawings of engineering designs and plans for buildings and structures. Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques for small projects or selected segments of a larger project. Performs design layouts and features, which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.
Responsibilities

Apply sound engineering principles to assist in the design of building systems, including plumbing, medical gas, and fire suppression systems.

Develop and coordinate construction documents using Autodesk Revit and other design software in accordance with firm standards.

Analyze building codes, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on engineering designs.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and project teams to develop coordinated, high-quality construction documents.

Gather project information through field investigations, existing documentation, and coordination with clients and project teams to support design development.

Support construction administration activities under the supervision of a licensed engineer, including site observations, contractor coordination, and verification of design intent.

Evaluate mechanical system alternatives for constructability, energy performance, sustainability, and long-term operational effectiveness.

Perform plumbing calculations to determine loads and size equipment.

Develop technical knowledge through mentorship, training, project experience, and progressively increasing design responsibilities.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Engineer-In-Training (EIT) a plus.

Coursework or internship experience with an architectural and engineering (A/E) firm is a plus.

Read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and other relevant reports.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to solve complex engineering problems.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning in the field of mechanical engineering.

Basic understanding of engineering principles and their application to building systems design.

Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or other relevant design software platforms is preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
